Debut Album

About the Album

This process has been a whirlwind. In a sudden flash of inspiration, I wrote several new songs in a totally different style. I could tell these songs were special because I had so much fun writing them, and they came so naturally. After the first rehearsal/performance, I KNEW that this was the album I’ve been waiting to record. I have always wanted to record an album but I have been too unsure, indecisive, and not confident enough to pursue it in the past. Then all of a sudden, my music took an exciting left turn and I made a split second decision to go for it.

About the Music

The original songs I am planning on recording are inspired by my personal experiences. These range from bad dating experiences (of course), questioning the honesty of human interaction, and also a song I wrote in memory of my grandma who passed almost 10 years ago. There will also be a few “re-imaginations” of popular songs that you might recognize (it’s a surprise, so don’t ask!).

About the Recording Process

Most people do not know how much is involved (or how much it costs) to record an album. Recording an album can cost anywhere between $3,000-$20,000 (or more). Costs are: studio time, recording engineer, producer, musicians, mixing, mastering, cd duplication, album artwork, distribution services, publicists, and the list can go on and on….

If you do a lot of the work yourself you can record an album for as little as $3,000 (that’s the least you could do it for, and if you have a lot of friends who are willing to do you favors/charge reduced rates). To give you an idea - just the cost of duplicating the album is $1,000. A publicist alone can cost between $2,000-$10.000 PER MONTH (and they don’t guarantee you any cd reviews, radio airplay, etc). That being said, I am planning on doing as much as I can myself - including my own publicity!

The Truth about Crowdfunding

When I began this process, I looked into crowdfunding - websites like “GoFundMe” “KickStarter” and “Indiegogo.” The truth is that the websites take about a 5% percentage of your donations for the use of their services… Not to mention the 3% credit card fee for processing your donation. If you are anything like me, you want ALL of your money to support your cause.

That being said, I decided against a crowdfunding campaign, and chose to rely on myself, and hopefully some help from people who really want to see this dream turn into a reality.

How to Donate

I did a lot of research and the following methods are FREE and don’t take an extra fee for processing:

Personal check - (payable to Sherrine Mostin)

Venmo - (@sherrine-mostin)

Chase Quickpay - (via your mobile app to sherrinemostin@gmail.com)

Paypal - (“Sending to a Friend” to sherrinemostin@gmail.com)

Facebook Messenger - (via your mobile app - click on the “+” next to the picture icon)

If you are moved and would like to donate ANY amount, I will happily send you a completed album (2019!) and thank you note! You can even think of it as pre-ordering the album :) If you’d like to send a personal check, send me a message and I’ll give you my address.

In any case, whether you’d like to donate or not, I hope you’ll stay in touch and join me in this exciting process! Thanks for taking the time to check out my latest musical adventure!
